Nigel is a very active, experienced and hard working local politician. He is a former County Council Chairman and previously served on Wyre Forest District Council as its Chairman. He has also been Mayor of Kidderminster. Nigel is a member of the Co-operative Party and the UNITE Trade Union.

He is involved in many issues which are important to Wyre Forest people and is Chairman of the Lea Castle Parent’s Action Group.

He is totally committed to ensuring the elderly receive the very best social care services available and enjoy the full benefits of their entitlements. He is a regular poppy seller for the British Legion in Bewdley and Kidderminster.

Nigel is a member of the Kidderminster Hospital League of Friends and a hospital visitor. He has led the campaign for more services to be provided at the hospital and collected over 10,000 Petition signatures for a Radiotherapy Unit, Palliative Care Bed Unit and a Birth Unit.

He is delighted with the Labour Government’s commitment to rebuilding Wyre Forest Schools at a cost of £180 million, and is actively involved in the programme delivery.

He has led the campaign for 20MPH Speed Zones outside every school and for improved road safety measures. Nigel regularly attends PACT meetings and is pleased that increased numbers of Police and Community Support Officers have ensured Wyre Forest is a low crime area.

Nigel has served on Regional bodies for Environment and Housing. He is determined to help ensure the local housing market remains stable and mortgage holders have security. Nigel is helping develop Labour Party policy to provide more local social housing to help young families and single people. Nigel was the founding Chairman of Bewdley Youth Café and has provided help for youth sporting groups in his role as a County Councillor.

“The Labour Party is totally committed to ensuring economic and financial stability, protecting jobs in Wyre Forest and helping families. We believe in Public Services and the NHS, and I fully support Gordon Brown to steer Britain through the credit crunch by positive intervention by our Labour Government”.
